EKAABÒ re-introduces the Nigerian theatrical experience to Ireland “Ekaabo” is a story about how misinterpretation and misinformation can in turn shape who we are as a people, and is the basis upon which everything else is built. ‘This is not about just putting up a play, it is about who I am as an artist, the issues in life and society seen through my lens. It is an artistic response to my life, culture, and society. This is why I make art, what I want to communicate, why I want to share this experience with and invite you into my world.’ -Favour Odusola (Artist) Dublin, 28th of June, 2022 - productions will proudly present the performance EKAABO at the Rua Red Theatre in Tallaght, on June 28th at 7 PM. The piece is inspired by and made up of a communal mixture of gyration, dance, and theatre and invites the audience to experience Nigerian cultural tradition. This milestone performance is funded by the South Dublin City Council. EKAABO is an electrifying journey to the history and artistic expressions of the Nigerian tribe, Yorubá. Created, produced, and performed by the Nigerian-Irish artist Favour Odusola, the piece has a total of three dancers, three musicians, and two instrumentalists. “Ekaabo is how we say ‘Welcome’ in Yoruba. This play takes you on an exciting and refreshing journey. ‘After these two years, I know we are all itching to see something different and exciting and this show will give you a lot to think about
